The second half of the 90s has seen a renaissance of S/390 systems
and particularily the OS/390 operating system. Superior reliability,
availability, scaleability, performance, attractive total cost of ownership,
and the trend for recentralisation are the driving forces. In addition, OS/390 positions
itself as an internet and e-business server. Unfortunately, there are few
up to date text books available, and the topic is only infrequently presented
at conferences and in scientific journals.
Dr. Sergej Voropajev assisted in preparing the information
contained in this site. Much of the material has been extracted from existing IBM publications,
esp. product documentation, IBM redbooks or IBM Journal publications.
You will need the Acrobat Reader to view most of the material. A copy of the Acrobat Reader

This site is an OS/390 operating system information ressource, especially its
client/server integration into internet and e-business applications.
The information is planned to be used in colleges and universities to prepare
course material for computer science classes. It may also be useful as self study material
for professionals getting interested in OS/390.
